This morning, I had some errands to take care of, so I only started working in the afternoon. First, I finished attaching the Aruki panels for the 3-sun 12-steps puzzle boxes. There was still a little left to do, but now it’s all done. Next, I can start attaching the top and bottom panels. Since I have a lot to work on—about 100 boxes—I plan to continue this task today and tomorrow.
I also assembled the frames for some small puzzle boxes I made yesterday. The side panels that form the structure are only 2.5 mm thick, so there’s a chance they might warp. That’s why I decided to assemble the frames first. I finished about 35 of them.
After that, I worked on the internal parts that will be attached to the frames. As you can see in the photo, these parts are also very small. Normally, I make these kinds of parts using strong plywood, but since plywood is too thick for these boxes, I made them from regular wood shaved down to 2 mm. Because they are so small and fragile, I used stronger wood called Ho (magnolia) to make them more durable. The parts in the photo are for one complete box.
Tomorrow, I plan to continue these tasks from the morning.
