It was another warm and sunny day today. I worked on attaching the Aruki panels (moving panels) and preparing the top and bottom lids for the 3-sun 12-step puzzle boxes. The walnut wood for the side panels still needs a bit more drying time, so after attaching the top and bottom panels, I plan to store the boxes for a few days.
Also, today I started making the smallest 12-steps puzzle box. I prepared the materials and worked on making the frame parts. It’s been about 10 years since I last made this box, so I’ve lost a bit of the “feel” for making. That’s why I decided to make about 30 this time.
Since I plan to add this box to my regular product list (not as a limited edition) after now, I’ve changed the structural material from the previous ho wood to Agathis, the same wood I use for my standard puzzle boxes. The dimensions will remain the same as the last version, with no major changes.
As you can see in the photo, the frame structure is very thin and small. I plan to work on this box little by little between other tasks, so it might take some time to complete.
Tomorrow I have some errands, so I’ll only be working in the afternoon. I plan to continue a bit more on these tasks then.
