Today, the wind is very strong, and a low-pressure system is approaching. On days like this, when there is no rain, the air becomes extremely dry, which negatively affects the condition of the boxes. Therefore, special care is needed for unfinished boxes, especially those with outer panels attached but not yet painted. The outer panels may warp, causing gaps to form in the puzzle box.
Today, I continued working on the 4-sun 27-step puzzle box. I attached small components (photo) and crafted the Aruki (moving panels), which I also attached (photo). With this completed, I can now move on to the step of attaching the Yosegi panels on the outer surface. Since the weather is unstable today, I will store the boxes in plastic cases at this stage to keep them safe.
Since I have other plans tomorrow morning, I cannot leave the boxes as they are. I’ve stored them in a humidity-controlled container. If it starts raining in this dry weather, the boxes might quickly absorb moisture, which could affect the movement of the mechanisms. This storage is a precaution against that possibility.
Starting this week, customers have gradually begun purchasing puzzle boxes as Christmas gifts. Currently, I am using express shipping services to ensure delivery in plenty of time for Christmas. However, many of the products are shipped overseas to be sold in local stores, so the number of items available for purchase here is limited. The inventory is unlikely to increase significantly in December, so I kindly ask for your understanding.
