A new week begins today. I stared attaching the yosegi panels to the Mame 14-step Japanese Puzzle Boxes and began making 2.5-sun boxes. Coincidentally, I’m working on these nested boxes at the same time. For the Mame Puzzle Boxes, I hurried to finish attaching the yosegi panels so that they could be ready for the painting process alongside the 3-sun cube boxes, which are already completed and waiting for painting (photo).
Although I say “hurried,” the glue still requires the usual drying time, so I’ve taken the necessary time for this step. As of today, the panel attachment for the Mame Puzzle Boxes is finished, and tomorrow or later, I’ll move on to painting them together with the 3-sun cube boxes.

The 2.5-sun puzzle box has already had its framework completed (photo). It feels slightly smaller than the 3-sun puzzle box. Additionally, the proportions of the height and width differ from the usual puzzle boxes, giving it a slightly taller appearance. This is because this box is specifically designed to store Mame Puzzle Boxes, with its size tailored to fit them perfectly.
This 2.5-sun box can accommodate all sizes of Mame Puzzle Boxes, including the taller ones such as the 18-step and 22-step versions. As with previous versions, the top and bottom surfaces feature traditional Yosegi designs, while the side panels use solid Nyatoh wood. The mechanism is a 5-step structure with three sliding panels and one kannuki (slide key).
Due to its compact size (the width is narrow),assembling this box can be a bit challenging😅
