As the forecast said yesterday, the weather was bad from the morning today, and it snowed in many places. In my area, it was not so bad in the morning, but before noon the snow became much heavier, and we ended up with a lot of snow. I came to the workshop in the morning, but the snow was so heavy that I had to shovel snow once in the evening. The snow has stopped now, and it looks like it will be sunny tomorrow, but the temperature will be very low, so I am worried about ice forming.
By the way, today in Japan there is an election to choose members of the national parliament, so most news programs are covering that. The vote counting will be done tonight, and the results will show who won and who lost. The heavy snow this weekend has been talked about on TV and other media for about a week, so many people, including me, already finished voting. This is called early voting. Because the heavy snow came on the actual voting day, it seems that many polling stations are closing earlier than usual. I am glad that I voted in advance.
Now, today I finished 3-sun 12-steps puzzle boxes. This time, the design is a combination of traditional yosegi and walnut wood. Walnut designs are always popular, so for this 3-sun size, I am thinking that I would like to keep making them in the future when I receive requests. The price of walnut wood has gone up a lot, but because these are small boxes, I think the impact is not so big. While making the 3-sun puzzle boxes, I had an idea. Recently, I often make nested boxes, so I thought it might be interesting to make a larger outer box that can hold a 3-sun puzzle box inside. If I do that, then by changing the design of the 3-sun puzzle boxes, I could create many different combinations. Well, since there are only two or three types of 3-sun puzzle boxes, it would be two or three combinations. The 3-sun 12-steps and 18-steps puzzle boxes are almost the same size, so they can fit inside. I think this is a good idea to increase variation.
