Today, I successfully completed the delivery of the Mame Puzzle Boxes I had been working on, marking the end of this year’s projects for the Hakone Market. I typically work on something for the Hakone Market about once a month, but next year, I hope to include a few of my original products for sale as well. Thank you so much for this year too!

Today, I began attaching the outer panels for the 2-sun 7-step puzzle box, which is also in progress. I had planned to finish attaching the side panels as well, but I couldn’t get that far. This time, as shown in the photo, I’m mainly making solid wood top panel versions, with a few traditional Yosegi types as well. I’m aiming to complete them by the middle of next week.
It’s been a while since I’ve made this 2-sun box, and its compact size feels truly adorable. It seems perfect as a gift box for jewelry or other small items. Since it’s small enough to fit in a pocket, it could make for a delightful surprise gift!

Plans changed a bit from yesterday, and I’ve decided to move on to making the 4-sun 27-step puzzle box again next. The 5-sun boxes take more time to prepare, so I’ve decided to use the checkered Yosegi panels I recently attached for the 4sun sides. Only the top panels will be newly made.
Many shops are in need of extra products for Christmas, so I chose the 4-sun type, which can be completed more quickly. Today, I prepared the materials for this box, and tomorrow I’ll start working on the structural parts.
